Check out this really interesting article: http://www.technologyreview.com/communications/39974/?mod=chfeatured. People are thinking about designing a new smart phone for illiterate people around the globe, specifically famers, so that they can communicate with one another using pictorials. One way this would work is that the illiterate person can choose a picture and the phone would change it into words for the literate person to read. Or two illiterate people can use pictures to communicate with one another.  The article says that currently there are about 793 million illiterate people so this would really help reach a new market of consumers.

In some ways I guess we are moving both forward and backward into history at the very same time. Anyway check it out and let me know what you think!
